Let is snow, around the log cabin

As the weather turns and the holiday buzz is in the air, I've been getting in the Christmas & holiday swing of things. Since I live in Minnesota, ya'll know it snows like crazy and the temps are unbearable. Remembering winters growing up in a log house (large cabin), it seemed normal to create a quilt pattern that combines the cold winters and my home. Such great memories of my sister and I, bundling up and playing in the snow for hours at a time. The best part - coming inside the log house and warming by the fireplace and watching the next round of snow fall. That said, I have to share one my my most popular quilt patterns. Perfect for the holiday season, Here is my "LOG CABIN SNOWFLAKE" quilt pattern.

This combines a traditional LOG CABIN quilt block with a snowflake design. An edgy and pointy snowflake with a twist on a log cabin assembly. This is a great size for a lap quilt, mini quilt, table topper, or kids/toddler as it finishes at 40x40" square. Make it larger by adding various sized borders. Want to be brave? Make 4 total snowflake blocks for a queen size quilt.

I made it in a collection of blues, whites, and silver fabrics. Those colors are shown in the pattern, but get bold and change up the color scheme. Below is one I did in Robert Kaufman's Holiday flourish in blacks & red with a white background. A nice versatile pattern that will look nice in any color combination. After all, who says snowflakes can't be pink, khaki, green, etc?!

May you create an amazing version of your own Log Cabin Snowflake as a keepsake or a gift for the holidays. Head over to my shop to purchase, and I hope you share your snowflake on our Instagram page @sewshebuilds. Stay warm and quilt on.
