Log Cabin Flower & Star quilt block
We know that the log cabin quilt block is one of the most popular quilt blocks there is. How about a log cabin quilt block with a flower? One of my favorite quilt blocks is this twist on a log cabin block, that creates a flower... or FLORET when you combine 4 or more blocks. It's a fun block that has numerous layouts. There is also a 4 block layout with two options. The 1st option is a standard layout that makes the Floret. The 2nd option is a layout that makes a star. Both these 4 block layouts make a nice table topper or wall hanging. I have 6 sample quilt layouts using 36 blocks below. The Log Cabin Floret quilt block is a 10x10" block and jelly roll friendly.

A block that is versatile in layouts and any color combination looks good. Whether you want it to be monochrome, one colorway, scrappy, or your favorite holiday fabrics... they all will look great. I completed one in orange and yellow fabrics with a white background. This is a typical layout for this quilt block with all the blocks making the floret in the center of 4 blocks. Combined across the rows and columns, the stars appear. A nice bright and light quilt that can be used for the spring & summer months, or to pair with an orange or yellow decor theme.
This is a confident beginner quilt block. Basic quilting skills are necessary to make this quilt block. Knowledge of log cabin block sewing is also helpful when making this quilt block.
In addition to the 6 sample layouts I have made, keep rotating your quilt blocks to create many more designs. See how this one little block can create multiple star designs, floret (flower) designs, zig zag designs, and so much more. My quilt block, your quilt design.
