Love stars and cutouts? This star quilt block mimics a cutout star, similar to cutting out cookies. The top left corner star is the remaining "dough" or fabric, while the bottom right is the actual "cutout" star. This block separate the two stars with a diagonal chain. A star block that is made with 3 fabrics, the more contrast in the fabrics, the better this quilt block looks. Pick a bold style fabric for the chain, so when you combine more blocks, the chain creates a secondary pattern.
A fun star block that can be used for a multitude of craft projects. One makes a nice centerpiece or table topper, three makes a nice table runner, and four or more makes a quilt. Check out this 9x9 block layout made with various animal & jungle fabrics. This finished at a 48"x48" quilt. A great lap size or small throw size quilt.
